Ricky Urgo is a research assistant and a first-year PhD Student in the Higher Education program at the University of Michigan. His research interests include socio-economic stratification and class identities + their interactions/experiences with the structures within higher education, the role of power and politics at institutions at large, organizational structures and their readiness to serve strategic goals and institutional missions, systems level approaches to marginalized student retention and success, and how organizations manage change.
Ricky graduated from Rowan University with a BA in Psychology and Child Behavior in 2016. He then graduated from Mississippi State University with a MS in Educational Leadership in 2018. Ricky has been working in Student Affairs since 2016, holding positions in Housing & Residence Life, Student Conduct & Policy, Student Health & Well-Being, and now a senior role in Student Retention & Success.
