Federick Ngo is an associate professor at the University of Southern California. His research examines the impact of higher education policy and practice, with a focus on issues facing community colleges and today’s community college students. He has published several studies on developmental education reform and the college access and success of under-served students. He is currently the Principal Investigator on a study funded by the Institute of Education Sciences examining corequisite reforms in Nevada, and another study funded by the National Science Foundation examining math pathways in California community colleges. His other work has been funded by the William T. Grant Foundation and Spencer Foundation.

Ngo currently serves as Associate Editor for The Review of Higher Education. He received the 2017 USC PhD Achievement Award and was recognized as UNLV’s Outstanding Faculty Member in 2024. He has taught courses in quantitative methods, the economics and finance of higher education, education policy, comparative/international education, and diversity in higher education. He was formerly a high school math teacher in Oakland, CA.
