New publication details findings from the Promoting At-promise Student Success project
Pullias Center director Adrianna Kezar is one of the authors of “Creating a Culture of Campus-wide Student Success,” a new book that highlights key findings from the Promoting At-promise Student Success (PASS) project, a six-year study on college student transition and success focused on historically marginalized groups. Pullias Center’s Associate Research Professor Joseph Kitchen, Research Professor Ronald E. Hallett and Rosemary J. Perez (University of Michigan) join Kezar as authors of the new book, published by Taylor & Francis.
In their January 2024 review of the new book, Library Bookwatch of the Midwest Book Review stated “A solidly researched, exceptionally well written, impressively organized, and thoroughly 'reader friendly' in presentation, "Creating a Campus-Wide Culture of Student Success" will prove to be of particular value to readers with an interest in Higher Education and Continuing Education curriculum development and student support.” Read more of their review.
The book offers a new approach to institutional practices and describes evidence-based strategies to create a campus culture conducive to supporting all students. “With this book, we promote an approach that is fundamentally different in demonstrating the need to break down bureaucratic silos that prevent students from succeeding and establishing an ecological approach where campus offices and staff/faculty/administrators work in concert to support students,” stated Kezar, who also serves as the USC Rossier Dean’s Professor of Leadership and is a national leader on change and leadership in higher education.
Recently, Kezar sat down for a Q&A with the USC Rossier School of Education and detailed the motivation for writing the book. Read the article here.
