Mya Haynes (she/her/hers) is a Ph.D. student and Provost's Fellow in the Education program with a concentration in higher education. She is a research assistant at the Pullias Center for Higher Education.
Mya obtained her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sociology and Master of Arts (M.A.) in Higher Education with a concentration in public policy from the University of Michigan. Before beginning her doctoral program, Mya was a Senior Analyst at Ithaka S+R. In this role, she managed the annual data collection for over 130 college and university members of the American Talent Initiative, aimed at expanding access for lower-income students.
Mya's research critically examines Black student and faculty experiences in higher education, with particular attention to institutional climates, policies and practices that impact student-faculty interactions, faculty hiring and tenure processes.
