Jose Guadalupe Bermejo Jr. is a Ph.D. student in the Education program with a concentration in Higher Education at the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education. He serves as a research assistant at the Pullias Center for Higher Education and is advised by Dr. Adrian H. Huerta.

Before pursuing his Ph.D., Bermejo earned a Master of Education in Educational Counseling (M.Ed.) from the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (B.A.) from California State University, Fullerton and an Associate of Arts for Transfer (AA-T) in Psychology from Fullerton College. As a research assistant at the Pullias Center, he is involved in projects that support justice-impacted students and gang-involved youth.

Bermejo’s research interests include urban education, community and familial support, Latino students’ educational pathways and the impact of labor and service work on higher education access. He is particularly interested in how work experiences shape students’ resilience and college-going identities within urban educational contexts.
