Jessica Leila Carranza is a Ph.D. candidate in the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California, concentrating in K-12 Education Policy. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare & Spanish: Hispanic Languages and Bilingual Issues, with a minor in Education at the University of California, Berkeley. She obtained a Master of Education from the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to attending USC, she was a bilingual elementary school teacher in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Her research interests include bilingual education, English learners, juvenile justice, gang-involved populations and mental health in K-12 education.
