Antar Tichavakunda was born and raised in Washington, DC. He attended Brown University and majored in Education Studies/Policy. In college he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and was heavily involved in Black affinity groups and mentoring programs. After graduating in 2011, Tichavakunda joined Teach For America and taught in Washington, DC public schools and received a M.Ed from George Mason University. His research interests include black male achievement in the K-12 setting and financial literacy.
